About

To promote awareness on heatwave preparedness and encourage creative expression among school students, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), through the MyGov platform, invites school students from across the country to participate in the nationwide Poster Making Competition on the theme: Stay Cool, Stay Safe

Posters are an effective medium for spreading awareness and inspiring positive behavioural change. With the increasing frequency and intensity of heatwaves across the country, there is a growing need to educate citizens, especially children and youth, about heatwave risks and safety measures.

Students are encouraged to creatively portray ideas related to heatwave awareness, preparedness, community resilience, environmental responsibility and protection of vulnerable groups during extreme heat conditions. Participants may use their imagination to depict the impact of heatwaves on daily life and showcase innovative ways to spread awareness and promote a culture of safety and preparedness.

Participants may submit

• Paintings
• Hand-drawn sketches
• Artwork and illustrations

Any artistic medium may be used, including water colours, acrylics, crayons, pencil art.

We encourage all young artists to use their creativity and imagination to design impactful posters that spread the message of heatwave preparedness and safety across society.

Judgement Criteria

Entries will be evaluated on the basis of:

1. Relevance and effectiveness in communicating the theme
2. Creativity and originality of the concept
3. Visual impact and overall artistic appeal
4. Clarity and legibility of the message
5. Quality of artwork and presentation
6. Ability of the poster to independently convey heatwave safety awareness

Gratification

1st Winner will be rewarded Rs. 50,000/-
2nd Winner will be rewarded Rs. 30,000/-
3rd Winner will be rewarded Rs. 20,000/-

Terms & Conditions

1. The Poster Making Competition is being organised by NDMA through the MyGov platform.
2. Participation in the competition is open only to school students studying in recognised schools in India.
3. Participants may submit only one entry. Multiple entries from the same participant will lead to disqualification.
4. Entries may be submitted in the form of:
• Paintings
• Hand-drawn sketches
• illustrations
5. All entries must be uploaded in JPG or PDF format.
6. The poster must be original and created solely by the participant. Any copied, plagiarised, AI-generated, or previously published work will be rejected.
7. Participants may be asked to submit the original artwork for verification.
8. The artwork should clearly relate to the theme “Stay Cool, Stay Safe and should promote awareness about heatwave safety, preparedness and preventive measures.
9. Participants are encouraged to include practical safety messages related to heatwave precautions and community awareness.
10. Use of offensive, inappropriate, defamatory or objectionable content in the artwork will result in immediate disqualification.
11. Participants must not be employees, officers of NDMA, MyGov, or any organisation directly associated with the conduct of the competition or working in the field of disaster management.
12. Winners may be required to submit valid proof of identity, age, school ID, address and bank account details for verification before disbursement of prize money.
13. Failure to provide the required documents within the stipulated time may result in cancellation of the award.
14. Participants must ensure that their MyGov profile is complete and updated, including name, photograph and contact details. Entries with incomplete profiles are liable to be rejected.
15. NDMA reserves the right to use, reproduce, publish, display and disseminate the submitted entries for awareness, educational, publicity and promotional purposes, with due acknowledgement to the participant.
16. Competition entries will not be returned. Participants are advised to retain a copy of their submitted artwork.
17. The decision of NDMA regarding selection of winners and all matters related to the competition shall be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
18. Results of the competition will be announced on the official websites and social media platforms of NDMA and MyGov.
19. By participating in the competition, participants and their guardians consent to the use of the participant’s name, photograph, school name, city/state, and artwork for publicity and promotional purposes.
20. All personal information collected during the competition will be used only for purposes related to the conduct of the competition and in accordance with applicable privacy guidelines.
